Unless we are hallucinating, we are quite certain that it was Congressman Barney Frank, who we observed on the television station devoted to broadcasting the actual, real-time doings on the floor of the House and Senate in our nation's capital, making the rather striking statement to the effect that if the Congress did not pass the pending legislation to rescue Fannie and Freddie, that these two critically important institutions "would have collapsed," to employ the congressman's words. |
